Rock and Bone

When people ask me what I do for a living, I tell them the truth - I shoot dinosaurs and rocks! O.k., I 'photograph' them. But, sometimes I like to make a little impact when referring to my work because it really is interesting. I get to play with the things that are normally kept behind the glass at museums and galleries. How many people get to handle a T-Rex and ask it to "smile"?

This is a group of fluorite from the past couple of weeks. They are really mesmerizing to view up close. Each one appears to be filled with a colorful gas or liquid. Some have layers of color, while other maintain a consistent color. One is perfectly water-clear. I mistook it for quartz until I realized it was a cube. Not that all fluorites are cubes, some are octahedral like the bright blue cluster in the upper right corner.
